Agip Appoints Goka as First Female DMD

Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited has appointed Mrs. Olufunmilayo Goka as the company’s new Deputy Managing Director. She is the first woman to attain the status in the over 50 years history of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria. The appointment, coming on the heel of a first female Petroleum Minister in the country, has been roundly praised by industry officials as a positive development and an indication of a rising profile for women in the industry. A trained lawyer, Mrs. Goka has a career that spans over 20 years in the company serving in various capacities and positions of responsibilities in different departments which includes overseeing the Company’s Public Affairs Division as the General Manager and previously as the Manager. She was also at different times in charge of the Company’s Personnel Services, OPTS Group Affairs, and specific projects in Gas Ventures and Negotiations Division. A scion of the Chief H.O. Davies Q.C. Kt family, who was a Federal Minister in the First Republic, Mrs. Goka graduated from University of Evansville, Evansville, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science before obtaining her law degree at University Of Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England. She was called to the bar in 1988. Married to Frankie Goka, a scion of the Goka family from Ghana, Mrs. Goka is a proud mother of two lovely girls, Emily and Delali, and a boy, Frankie-Junior.
