NASENI to Deploy Solar Panels In Niger Delta

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI is set to install solar panels in the Niger Delta region following an approval by the Federal Government. The Director General of the agency, Olusegun Adewoye has disclosed. He said “right now, the Federal Executive Council, FEC has approved our proposal on demonstration of solar panel, solar engineering and solar energy, for rural electrification in Niger Delta. Within a space of four months, we would have finished installing all the solar panels in those places”. Adewoye also disclosed NASENI’s plan of establishing a solar panel production plant in each of the geo-political zones of the country with the support of the Federal and State Governments.
Speaking further, he stated that the successful establishment of a 7.5 mw solar panel manufacturing plant in Karshi, Abuja with a production line to facilitate a smooth roll out of solar panels by NASENI is a clear indication that solar panel manufacture is possible in Nigeria. Thus he called on both the government and the private sector to invest in the plant to expand its capacity noting that solar panel market potential is huge in the country.
